I have wished for a door from my office to the back yard since I moved to my wee hobbit house. I have drawn designs over and over... to the left of the window? instead of the window? sliding door? glass screen/storm door? deck outside or patio outside? flowers, bushes & garden around patio?
Well finally the door is being installed thanks once again to the diligence & long suffering of our dear neighbor Casey. Here are photos of the progress. I know, I know it is just a door. But it seems just another example of openings and spaces being more significant than adding yet another THING to my life. I am talking about the idea that you cannot go to Walmart and buy SPACE. You can buy crap that robs you of your space.
Are you lost? Open a door. Or come visit thru mine. I will make you a nice dreamy batch of green tea with home grown mint and local honey.
Here's my door so far:
outside with landing. steps forthcoming
can you see cats curiously watching?
view from inside, Casey at work on landing deck. note walls beside door - they are being built up, patched & textured. eventually whole office will be textured.
this is what Casey looks like when he does not want his photo taken. haha.
